PROYECTO TRASESCENA

In BEHIND THE SCENES, we go behind the scenes. Today, as in the past, this space for conversations, studies, gatherings, and diverse research—consolidated within the N.E.T. (Núcleo de Experimentación Teatral / Theatrical Experimentation Core)—now shares its perspectives with CUCUMELO FILMS. Today, we come to expand and multiply our view and voice across all stages and screens—not only focused on theatre, as it originally was, but broadly on all performing and visual expressions, including the stages of life itself. Thus, cinema, audiovisual languages, and cybernetics connect with all the implicit realities of contemporary life in a complex yet urgently everyday manner. It is vital to us that all these matters find a home in a space for inquiring and critical thought within today's expanded BEHIND THE SCENES.

If BEHIND THE SCENES means going after other perspectives, it also means looking beyond and deeper into the results of the works—understanding the contexts to better comprehend the texts we generate. Above all, it involves that OTHER behind-the-scenes reality of everything shifting within society, demanding new responses, and consequently, new words, thoughts, and concepts. "We seek to find the search" for new pathways across various arts.

At CUCUMELO FILMS, our focus is CINEMA. For the Theatrical Experimentation Core, the priority is theatre. But together, we explore the STAGE AND TRASESCENA. Together, with our audiences, as active spectators.

  1. Behind the scenes 1 - 2020

The Current Invention of Emerging Routes in Virtual Stage Art.

August 18, 2020 – Relaunch of our program BEHIND THE SCENES. We begin with current reflections, critiques, and questions regarding emerging new pathways within virtual stages today. We explore the features, meanings, and challenges for creators and audiences in the face of these virtual practices amidst the global changes unfolding around us. #cucumelofilms #net #cinema #theatreDiscussion Texts:

Behind the Scenes 2 - 2020
Deconstruction: Vortices: Around the Day in 80 Worlds.

01/09/2020 - What languages should theater and the performing arts speak in a reality where venues are closed and the only way to reach an audience is through a screen? Last Friday's presentation of Vortices: Around the Day in 80 Worlds offered an opportunity to answer that challenge. It is a piece that, like practically everything produced since 1992 by the Núcleo de Experimentación Teatral (NET), breaks boundaries by completely rejecting a schematic and linear narrative, while successfully creating an atmosphere of paranoia deeply characteristic of these pandemic times. #theater  #cinema #cucumelofilms

Behind the scenes 3 - 2020
Virtual spaces for performing arts experiences.

22/09/2020 - We continue advancing our research into virtual spaces, just as we did in the previous two editions: Inventing Routes and Showing Experiences in Virtual Spaces. In this 3rd Behind the Scenes, titled Spaces for Virtual Experiences, we intend to delve deeper into some of the practices developed over recent months. To that end, we have invited Juan Pablo Cambronero Chan (Eliella Teatro), Javier Monge (Improntu Teatro), and Cristina Bruno (Teatro La Polea) to share their experiences and the behind-the-scenes process of their works.  #BehindTheScenes2020 #CucumeloFilms
